HK Dragon Boating Championship Race, Tuen Ng Festival 19.06.2007

Sun was out in force for the 2007 dragon boating festival - cororate sponsored boats lined the sidelines, with party people and party music almost drowning out the sound of the kick-off gun.
MSJ had a fairly new crew racing in the Tuen Ng festival dragon boating champsionships this year, but managed to get into the Finals - finishing up 7th Place in the Plate Final Division, out of a staggering 110 odd teams participating!
Awesome day - cant wait for 2008!

Long Ke, Sai Kung 17.06.2007

Viv had a cruise scheduled, so we headed out amongst ominous weather conditions for a bit of shine, swim and snorkel.

Corals came out better when the sun brightened up in the arvo; seathings came to party and we caught zz's all the way home back to the pier after a good catch.

Hermit crabs - hooray!

My friend Ben

This is my friend Ben.

Famous for his multitude of talents, but he is probably best known for his ability to defy the evolutionary logic of man - the theory of natural evolutionary regression??

Ben, you rock buddy - missing your humour already. These had me laugh til I was in stiches for ages.... hahah :)

Lenin Bar, Circular Quay, 15.06.2007

Thanks to all the crew for an awesome night - atmosphere was great and alot of surprised faces of people i hadnt seen in a long long time! :)

Had a wicked time, i cant wait til next time!

NB: HK crew '05/ 06 - come back soon! Dragon-I has your reservation on it! :)

Sydney, Australia June 2007 - Part 2

A few more "out and about" pics from last week....

Sydney, Australia June 2007 - Part 1

Jetted back to Aus for a quick holiday in June, great to see some old faces; the city itself was almost unrecognisable in some ways - so much has changed in 2 years!

Ash had the week off, so we took his Merc SLK for a ride and pimped up all the ladies in the Bronte area (sorry Ben, maybe next time hahaha)

The week consisted of a whirlwind surprise to old friends and family, with the odd lowenbrau beer visit; a night at the international beer festival at Bungalow 8 (that rocked - heads up to Jun/ Roger a great start to a drunken night!) and the final night at Lennin Bar (next time must check out the ice bar!)

Wakeboarding & squid fishing, Sai Kung, 03.06.2007

Aaron's infamous networking skills got us hooked up with some wicked wakeboarding over the weekend in Sai Kung. The boat was an absolute speeder, but we got in late in the day so had to come up against some rough waves - made some good wakes tho!

Finished up the night with some good old fashioned squid fishing on board some old junk - petroleum was spilling into the water, but o' it made the squid just that bit extra tastier!

Got either stung by a sea urchin or a rock fish/ lion fish - so thumb is now a glowing lump of meat throbbing with poison fluid. Worse than a blue bottle octopus sting!!!

Heads up to Joey and Chris for awesome trip tho - respect dawg!

Tin Hau/ North Point night scenes, 02.06.2007

After knocking down some japanese in causeway Bay, Win suggested to check out apartments around victoria park and to also walk of some of the dinner. The short walk quickly turned into a trek of winding paths and unknown side streets in sweltering 33 degree temperature (dammit!), but we did see some funky apartments and ruin a couple's romantic endeavour in a side alley!

Hooray for sex in public!

Stanley Dragon Boat Warm-up races 28.05.2007

The last 12 weeks of saturday training was put to the test as MSJ team raced against some of the best HK had to offer....particularly hard were the Seagods Xtreme, whose women participants were almost built physically to match their herculean male counterparts......

Go, weenie Hongkies, Go!

But coming in 2nd for the Plate Final, MSJ still kicked some ass. Great day - The final should be wicked!

Teddy

Here is Teddy.

He's fucking naughty...but too damn cute to punish

Quit peeing everywhere dammit!

Visitors from the U-S-er of A

A & S hailing from San Fransisco U.S.A - we decided on a trip out to Cheung Sha with ASSS - very good.

An usually hostile reaction from the normally friendly japanese tea house owner - was it because I forgot my membership card?

A & V got eggplants..... i think they are now infested with weeds.

where o' where.....?

Ah, back from a rather long hiatus....

March/ April felt like a pretty long time - the start of the annual sweltering heat season comes again - Argh!!

The upside is that there's plenty of time for beach and snorkelling..... pics to come :)

The origins of "Young & Dangerous" - chinese new year - February 2007

Young "Chan Ho Nam"! Maybe, but the tough guy "fights" dirty... "Chin up"!!

The story:

(02/21/2007) (Apple Daily) At the night market in Victoria Park on early Chinese New Year morning, a group of seven individuals had a dispute with the couple who operated a stall over prices. Suddenly, one man threw a left hook punch at the male store owner. Then another man punched the store owner on the head, while a third man hit him hard with punches on the back of the head. Afterwards, the men cursed the store owner out and left the scene.

NB: when the crowds disperse at the very end, a voice over the microphone can be heard saying, "step right up, step right up! Come and buy again!"

(Christ..... Hong Kong nutters)

HK journalism Vs the world

Journalism in HK has always come under fire for being overly dramatic and excessively outrageous in their reporting of current affairs. More often than not, its true because theres nothing more resourceful than have paparazzi baying for nude breast photos of "Twins" Gillian\ or twin; or be it the case of the pair of scissors thrown out the window and lodging itself in the head of an elderly lady, who managed to check herself into the casualty ward with the scissors still embedded.

God bless Apple Daily for all its righteous reporting.

Contrast the pics provided by Yahoo news and Apple Daily (a local HK newspaper) respectively which depict the recent shooting murder mystery of 7 chinese ethnics in Sittensen, Germany over the weekend.

Now, honestly, how many times did you look at the drawing? And they say sex sells.....

Triad activity

Just as you start to think that Triads are a whole stack of street myth bullshit - heres the evidence to prove otherwise - Check out the name of the person signing the document! WTF....?
The Threatening Letter (02/07/2007) (Ming Pao) This is a rare opportunity to see a threatening letter in its totality. The above was sent to the Ming Pao newspaper in Hong Kong:

(in translation)

Selena Chow (of the Liberal Party)

The "Sun Yee On" triad gang informs you right now that you must immediately expel Lam Chui-lian and Tsang Pui-kei from the Lberal Party. You must immediately rescind the Liberal Party's subsidies to district councilors. If you disobey, Sun Yee On will chop Selena Chow to death with knives and bomb the headquarters of the Liberal Party. Signed "Sister-In-Law Number Seven." [a utility knife was attached with the letter]

Note: Lam Chui-lian is an elected district councilor and Tsang Pui-kei is the instructor at social dance classes sponsored by district councilors.
